“The Gentleman Outlaw” Royal Wade Kimes was born a cowboy riding the rugged Boston Mountain Range along the border of Arkansas and Oklahoma. Kimes started his music career as a songwriter. His endeavors garnered platinum and gold records from the likes of Garth Brooks, Diamond Rio, Gene Watson and others.
Once established as a songsmith, his mentor, the late and legendary Eddy Arnold eased him into another entertainment arena, performing. Kimes smooth as Kentucky Bourbon voice caught everyone’s attention right away and he was soon signed by Asylum Records. He would enjoy a number of hit singles before leaving the label to pursue his passion, “Cowboy Country.” Kimes immediately had one hit after another in the Cowboy Country arena and once established, he and his friend Garth Brooks teamed up on a duet, “Nightbirds” which was a No. 1 hit for several weeks.
